Today we completed Mission 7: Discover Regatta and learned the basics of sailing races. We discovered that a regatta is a competition where sailboats race along a predefined course, using both sailing skills and tactical decisions to achieve the best result.

During the mission, we studied the structure of a typical regatta course, including the starting line, marks, and finish line. We learned how important the starting procedure is and how sailors position their boats before the start to gain an advantage.

We also explored some of the fundamental racing rules, such as the rights of way between boats on different tacks and the importance of giving room at marks. Understanding these rules helps ensure fair and safe competition on the water.

Another key lesson was the role of strategy and teamwork. Successful racing requires constant attention to wind conditions, course positioning, and coordination among crew members. Even small decisions can significantly influence the final result.

This mission helped us better understand the competitive side of sailing and showed how participating in regattas can improve boat handling, navigation skills, and overall sailing confidence.
